Turkey Attractions – Travel Information

Turkey is very traditional in its culture that creates a special oasis for those that are about to visit it. Actually, this is a Eurasian country meaning that it stretches over two continents thus occupying Anatolian peninsula. With its rich history and culture, Turkey offers many attractions for all travelers.Well, this area is recorded as very important in European or even world history. From the year 1200 BC Aeolian and Ionian Greeks settled many important cities throughout Anatolian coastline and this is the onset of Turkey’s most important history. Miletus, Ephesus, Smyrna (modern Izmir), and Byzantium (today Istanbul) are founded at that period. For these cities, recorded in many historic books, wars had been led and blood had been spilt. To show the importance of Byzantium and therefore the country itself it is interesting to mention that Byzantium was, in one moment, the capital of the great Roman Empire! For those of you willing to research more on the Turkish history we suggest to look into the Ottoman Empire which is traced back even before the year 1453 when it captured the capital of Byzantine Empire, former Roman Empire and therefore captured the whole Empire.
